Milk soaps are so rich!
As I looked at the newly cured simple Buttermilk soap in the studio, I thought about how I used to trek to a town an hour away to replenish my personal stock of natural soaps, purchased from a herb shop. The bars were generally un-evenly cut, laying unwrapped on a very old and primitive butcher block table. The deal was to pick up 5 bars, place them in a brown paper lunch sack, receive the 6th bar free.
I was in love. And I knew I was taking something wonderful home with that rustic purchase.
If I had seen Buttermilk soap on that table I would have bought a bar. No doubt!
Why Buttermilk soap? It is mild, pure, and great for the skin. With a thick type of lather, similar to a shaving soap. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this (colorant and fragrance free) soap on sensitive skin, or for a child.
Buttermilk soap (made from scratch from goat milk buttermilk, started with a buttermilk culture of cow milk), available now in our online soap store!

Thank you, Amy!
You’re welcome!

I made some buttermilk soap (handmilled/rebatch) with whole cow’s milk buttermilk and buttermilk powder a few months back. I loved it. It was so rich and indulgent feeling to the skin. I’ve often wondered why you don’t see more buttermilk soap around. Nice article. Love it and love you!

After reading up on hand milled soap I really do need to give it a try again. It is my understanding that hand milled soap is a progress that some soap artisans use with each and every batch that they make. And buttermilk would add just that much more richness to it! Love you too, Ginger.
Hi Mary,
You can just sense the rich, deep, luxurious nature of the buttermilk soap. Your description is great Mary. Reading it prompts you to imagine the feel of that deep penetrating, soft lather on your skin.
What have you noticed most in using this buttermilk soap compared to your other soaps?
Thank you Mary!
Michael, the Buttermilk Goat Milk Soap is different from the the other soaps in the sense that an extra ingredient was added to thicken up the lather, a thicker milk. It is much like soaps that contain oatmeal, another rich ingredient that is soothing to the skin.
