As I’ve said before…I am a soap nerd. I never get tired of the process of making soap. Finding time to make soap is the biggest problem, it certainly is not boredom!
I wanted to share with you how the Annie’s Merlot Wine soap looks in the mold, as it heats (goes through the gel stage), as the soapers call it.
When you look at the soap in the mold, you wonder how it ever gets to this point:
The bars often are a bit more brick red, sometimes lighter, darker at other times. I attribute the variances to the nature of the sugar in the wine, even to different brands. Subtle differences adds to the ambiance of handcrafted soap!
I boil the alcohol out of the wine before it is used to make soap. It is not complicated, but I do follow an entirely different process than I do when making milk soap.
Pretty, isn’t it?
I simple cannot say it enough…I am blessed to be doing what I love!
It is very pretty!
You are definitely blessed to be loving what you do and able to make a living doing it.
That is what I’m working toward with my studies. For now it’s slow going because there is so much to remember, but I’ll get there, eventually.
You will get there, Becky, I have faith that you will!
What a terrific idea. What a wonderful bath to end an exhausting day. Maybe a glass of merlot next to the soap would help, too. Nice … … … .
Pat, the merlot wine started as part of a health quest for me. Red wine, especially certain types, really is good for a person, in moderation. The idea of wine in soap spawned from there.
I see you’ve been busy, as usual. I was just thinking of you tonight while I was luxuriating with your soap! Hope your weekend is peaceful and full of joy on your hill of the world! 😉
Hi there! It has been a relaxing weekend, beautiful. I hope yours is too.
Hi Annie,
The Merlot wine soap looks so pretty! It’s been a while since I’ve made wine soap. I still have a bottle of Sangria that I may try soaping with later.
At the moment, I really love goat milk soap. It does wonder for your skin!
Hello! Best wishes with your sangria soap. I hope you tell me how it goes!
Merlot soap! I will need to order some, especially for the wine lovers in the family!
I have been using your lavender rosemary soap on my face for the past few weeks, love it more and more every day Mary!
Mary, I was getting updates of your new postings via subscription , but this post has not come through as subscription or in my Google reader~ not in my greymail either. Guess I will have to check in more often.
Yes, it is among the very best gifts in life to love what we do, and be able to do what we love!
Kathy, I am having problems keeping up with comments on blogs recently. Summer is simply busy. And I am not having the problems with updates as it seems you are. We do our best.
Glad you are still enjoying your soap!
I would love to order the merlot soap! How do I do this? I looked on your website, but didn’t find it in with the other soaps. Thanks!
Jessica, unfortunately I have had a crazy (and welcome) run on Merlot soap recently. Merlot soap seems to sell in spurts. It sells like hot-cakes, sits for a while, and out of the blue sells like mad again. I am in the process of replinishing the supply. What is on the curing rack has already been asked for. I’ll send an email to you!
That would be great if you would! I am anxious to try that, and some other soaps of yours, too!
Jessica, I sent a 2nd email to you. I have good news…2 bars of Merlot soap available to ship next week. I am happy you can give it a try. Let me know, via email, if you want to order the soaps. Thanks!
For those that do not know, I’ve had a rush on Annie’s Merlot Wine soap. I have several batches on the curing rack, sold. I am preparing to make Merlot soap next week…will be ready in 3 weeks.
I just stumbled on your site. Merlot Wine Soap what a great idea! Thanks for the post. I look forward to reading more
Hello, Melissa. I hope you come back often! I talk about a lot of different things here, whatever the passion is at the moment. Welcome!
