We have been a busy couple here at Annie’ s Goat Hill!
We are working on several projects, some we can disclose, others we are better off keeping under our hat until they happen.
One of the fun new things that we have are t-shirts. I have not always been a big fan of walking advertisements for brands but recently as I wore a t-shirt for a much needed cause (the fight for cystic fibrosis) I wondered why I had not added Annie’s Goat Hill t-shirts to our daily casual wear.
Getting the t-shirts made was a struggle. I called 5 small businesses before one responded. The businesses either would not answer their phone, would not respond to voice mail messages, or would appear to never turn on their lights and be in their physical location.
I am all for local business, and when I get permission to mention the one that we used for the printing, I will…but until then, I’ll say they had some great customer service! They printed our shirts based on an attachment to an email, they supplied us with prototypes via email attachments, and even provided an attached invoice. All done sight-unseen. The entire process took 3 days, that is it. I am grateful, to say the least. They deserve a gold start for adding another exemplary small business to the list of glue that holds our country together!
I hope Annie’s Goat Hill always continues to provide customer service that exceeds the middle line. If we ever slip up, by not meeting our customer needs, I personally want to hear about it, and fix it!
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
Wow, 5 businesses? They won’t be in business for long with that approach.
The shirts are cute, Mary. I hope the walking advertisements bring you much business!
Actually, it was the walking advertisement that I was staying away from. Then I thought about it. We work hard for what we do. When a person (you, I, us) looks around we see many people wearing shirts that show where they work, what they do, and what they are interested in…then it felt right.
Folks are now interested in ordering the shirts. I am going to provide a link once the printer and I select a few colors to make available. We’ll start with two. Should be fun!
If you have any suggestions for colors, I would love to hear them!
Very nice! We have our church denomination logo and our church name on polo shirts, aprons, and baseball hats.
Amy
I am thinking about aprons too, Amy, for the soap workshop. I wear one that I made and need more. Thanks for the idea!
You are welcome for the idea! We usually wear the aprons when we do dinners for other people such as funerals, etc. that are being held at our church, we haven’t had the aprons that long. We redid our shirts since being part of a denomination though.

Hi Mary,
The shirts turned out nice. I have thought about doing something like this for Joyful Soaps. Like you, I thought it might be over the top and slightly gratuitous. But it is classy and ideal to wear at bazaars, craft shows, and at events in the community. Good job!
Thank you, Micheal.
The shirts started as a “this is what I do, and I am happy to be doing it,” type of thing. I am an independant business owner. I work hard…and I love it! The idea evolved from there. The shirts also represent a farm that operates with a distinct purpose. And then, there is the fun side of things that a t-shirt and jeans, and a simple message represents.
Life is good…a blessing!
how cool!!!!! congrats on the shirts, and finding a business who actually wants to be in business! you’d think in this economy there’d be a little more competition — or desire — especially if they’ve already hung a shingle out there….
I agree!
It makes me think of a new friend that we have that is redesigning a local business, and our doctor (whom may be unemployed), and us with our soap and lotion business, and another friend who is into organic foods and herbs…we talked about adjoining in the same local market. We would put quite the shingle out there.
Seriously, though, perhaps it is the economy that causes people to want to cave into being complacent?
is that a front and back view? (back being larger?)
Yes, the front is smaller, with the logo being to the left, below the shoulder, above the chest. The back is larger with the website address.
i’m just now seeing that i’m “soarswitheagles” and not leavesofthefall… hmm. aren’t i normally leavesofthefall? lol
Lynnanne, I noticed that!! And you didn’t know it had changed. Oh, the mysteries of the internet. LOL!
Gina, happy to meet you! It sounds like you are enjoying your soap adventures…I am right with you on that!
I love the tshirts Mary! I am working on some shirts, hats and aprons for my company!! I would love to get one of your shirts to sport around in NYC!
Melissa, I added the t-shirts to the website if you are interested. I love them. They are comfy! When your shirts become available, I would love to purchase one of them as well! I just had a thought…I’ll email you!
I forgot to add, Melissa, that I am getting aprons too. I didn’t think of the aprons until after I placed my final order with the print company. Next time I’ll order! The aprons are coated with Teflon, which would be ideal for working with oils and other ingredients. I do notknow about you, but I get a bit messy from time to time when I work in the studio.
