Who is going to win the race? Ready, set, go! Off to the finish line. But, where is that finish line?
Can we not get there, or get it done, fast enough?
As we stop for necessary things during the race, don’t dare talk to a cashier for a few moments. The unwritten rule is keep the line moving swiftly, no real conversation allowed. A simple, “Thank you, have a good day,” suffices. Ooops…scratch that. Have a good day is now considered cold, not personal. Better not say anything at all? Instead, turn to text messaging. It isn’t so cold, so impersonal, and goodness…you can walk about and text all at the same time!
Drive the speed limit. Not! Only if you want to be the target of obscenities and scowls, or worse. Oh, why not, don’t you like that sort of abuse?
Time flies fast, perhaps because we are in such a hurry?
I was listening to a comedian a few days ago. He said, paraphrasing, “When we pass on, standing in line to get through heaven’s gates, will we make it to the line, but be dismissed when we become impatient and snarl or cuss at those waiting in line in front of us?” I can see it now, “Move it, buster, I have things to do…I need to get through that gate. If you cannot keep the line moving, then move over **** and let me in!”
Someone close to me used to say, “Patience is a virtue.” Isn’t that statement worth a mint?
Today I commit to working harder at slowing down. I will work towards patience, realizing that every moment of life is precious. When you find me laying flat on life’s tracks, smashed by those that have passed me by in a flash…oh well, I’ll be taking a break. Care to join me? Tea, coffee? Cream?

We’re trying to slow down here now and try to relax, with my Mom retiring from her job. We’re trying to enjoy each and every day that we have with our loved ones, we had a nice long visit with both of my Grandma’s at their Assisted Living yesterday. The end of February we’re heading for Georgia then to Florida to spend time with family, my Mom’s cousin and his wife who live in Florida are hosting a family reunion and some of my Mom’s cousins we haven’t seen for years! We’re going to spend some time at Disney World as well, this will be mine, my Mom’s, my Dad’s, my brother’s, my sister-in-law’s, my niece, and nephew’s 1st time to Disney World and my sister is even flying for a few days to Florida. My sister-in-law found a resort for us to stay in from a Time Share that her parent’s in India gave her.

It souns like your agenda for trips is full…I hope you enjoy them with your family, Amy.
I am also working on trying to slow down a bit. I’ve moved to a new place and they are slower here than they are back home. Back home we like things done correctly and in a New York minute! I’m still getting used to relaxing and taking it easy. (This is hard for me.)
Working on this I realize we could all stand to be a little more humble and patient.
What you said, “in a New York minute,” describes it well!
Can you imagine the invisible internal time clock that we live by, with a 2nd (or third) hand that goes round in much faster increments?
Regaining (or retaining) the fine line between not being lazy, and legarthic, and not being so fast paced that we become impatient or worse, it is hard!
Yep, we enjoy our time with family! My sister-in-law and her 2 children are coming from Georgia to spend 3 weeks with us this summer though so we will get a double dose with them this year- first Georgia and Florida then they’re coming to Ohio in the summer when my niece is on summer vacation from school, she’s in Kindergarten right now.

I SO agree with you, Mary!
I will definitely join you!
Okay, that sounds great!
That is so true, everyone is in such a hurry to stop. Unfortunately I allow myself to be infected sometimes and start rushing around and then it dawns on me, (all the time) ‘why am I rushing I always leave room to get everywhere early, and if i am late at least I am there safely.’
Living in such a large city I miss the slower passed polite town mentality.
😉 I have an awesome Italia espresso machine that turns out awesome coffee, I also roast our own beans. I would love to join you for a wonderful cup with scalded milk creamer.
Another Soap Addict.

I would love a cup of tasty java (sounds wonderful) with scalded milk creamer, shared with another “soap addict.”
We made a trip to Cincinnati yesterday. Funny how, on the way back, I realized that I blocked the traffic, the busyness, and simply looked forward to the return ride home. This is coming from a former city girl…that realizes the slower pace has now spoiled her!
We’re headed to Cincinnati on February 22nd then the next day we’ll make our way to Georgia. I was a city girl before moving to the country!
Did you live in Columbus, Amy?
No, I didn’t live in Columbus Mary! My parent’s and brother’s lived in Columbus. My one brother and his family lives in Seattle and his 1st daughter lives in Columbus (Westerville) and my other brother and his family live in Georgia now (they lived in Powell which is close to Columbus) and my other brother that lives in Seattle now lived in Columbus (Reynoldsburg, Gahanna, and Westerville).
I grew up in Ashland, Ohio when I first came to the USA from Seoul, Korea but we lived in my Dad’s office for awhile while our house was being built in Ashland. But we went to Columbus every once in awhile to visit my niece’s.
