Vanilla Scented Goat Milk Soap
Today I am showcasing vanilla scented goat milk soap and lotion.
Many of the products that I talk about in my Product Monday series are part of my “base soap and lotion” group, products that I keep in stock at all times. Vanilla scented products were added to the base list in September 2009.
Natural vanilla fragrance fades in cold processed soap, so, a man-made vanilla fragrance is called to the rescue!
Guess what vanilla fragrance does as it ages in many types of products? Depending upon the percentage of vanilla in the product, the product color darkens from tan to chocolate brown. There are additives on the market that stop (or slow) the browning effects of vanilla fragrance. I choose to not use them. I honestly like the color.
Vanilla soap does produce a tan lather…but never fear, no staining of wash clothes occur!
Looks like a chocolate bar, don’t you think? Smells luscious. Clean. Not at all a sickening sweet vanilla scent. The same holds true for the lotion.
Lynnanne, a friend and blog reader, requested the vanilla soap. She loves the lotion as well. Her words are, “I think I could almost drink the lotion!” After Lynnanne offered a sniff of her lotioned arm to her aunt, her aunt became a fan as well.
Let me know if there is a product that you would like to see covered in the Product Monday series.
On a side note…I hope you had a wonderful weekend! We relaxed, visited with friends, and met new (friends of friends). It was great! I feel totally refreshed.
I think the brown color is a plus too! Vanilla is one of my favorite fragrances, in food, cologne and lotions. Your vanilla soap is the color of the dark brown eggs I have been getting from my new flock of Marans…you just need to add warnings to the packages of soap reminding people it is NOT chocolate or edible!( ha ha)
Nice post, Mary! lol
One thing I don’t know if I’ve shared with you is that for better than 10 years now, beginning with the changing of seasons — fall to winter– and lasting until spring, I have had a problem with drying skin (It must be this age thing 😦 ) . After getting in a hot shower, the itching would begin. I would scratch until I could scratch no more.
Since I have been using your soap (and lotion), I have not had the first itching episode this year! Not one! And that’s saying somethin’!! I should have already scratched myself to China and back by now!
I have tried other off-the-shelf moisturizing soaps and lotions… and nothing worked. (sorry if this is beginning to sound like a paid advertisement! honestly, it’s not, folks! lol)
So, every morning after showering with the vanilla goat’s soap, I pop a top of vanilla lotion and pay tribute to the wonderful, wonderful world of Mary’s goats! 🙂
Now, the only “itch” I have is to own another goat! lol
Have a great day!
Dark brown eggs…love that comparison, Kathy! I do like the brown color as well. “Not chocolate, do not eat!” Now, that’s a thought!
Lynnanne…now we know your words were not a paid advertisement. LOL! The vanilla was your gig…and now I love it. Appreciate it!
Feedback is very important to me. A lack of words is not good. None of us need glossed over rosey words, just honest thoughts, including suggestions for improvement, when/if needed.
Have a great day too!
Mmmmm, I’ll bed that smells deliciouse.
Vanilla is one of my favorite scents.
Becky…it is one of those scents, not overpowering, just nice.
By the way…BRRR! Got your DM Tweet…the season is changing fast!
I love the scent of vanilla. It is so soothing and has a warm feeling. I also like the color that the vanilla fragrance does to the soap!
Happy soaping! 😉
Trish, absolutely, happy soaping!!!
Looks like many of us agree on the color. 🙂
