Anise…a unique scent.
Anise is an essential oil that is used (as well as anise seeds) in perfuming and cooking. Black licorice contains anise, and so does Italian sausage.
In aromatherapy, anise is said to have aphrodisiac and stimulant properties. Anise is a natural antiseptic, amongst other healthy benefits.
Me…I simply love the scent. It is clean and natural, turning out a mild soap.
Anise goat milk soap can be found in my online store, as well as Anise Lavender.
Essentials oils are readily absorbed by the skin. Always keep your specific allergies and health conditions in mind (including pregnancy). Even though I include generous proportions of essential oils in many of my soaps, the amount that the skin actually absorbs from soap is much less in quantity than from a lotion, or directly from pure essential oil.
The soap must smell tasty!
Anise is one of those scents and tastes that a person either seems to like or hate and no in- between. I like it, but have never thought of it as a soap fragrance, interesting Mary!
Hi Mary! I’m back from NY and my first order of business was catching up with your blog!
Regarding Anise… I’ve never been fond of black liquorish, but subtle hints of it can really enhance scents and aromas! I love cooking with fennel which has an anise flavor, so I’m sure if I ordered your anise GMS it might end up in a soup or something.
Oh! I brought some GMS to Kristen and left your information with her. If you get an order from Vestal, NY you’ll know why. She promised she was going to order.
Happy to be back in the Blogosphere and catching up with my dear friends!
I don’t care for Anise candy but my brother likes it and we always gave my Grandpa when he was living black jelly beans for Easter or a Special Ocassion since he dearly loved them, we always picked out the black jelly beans when we were growing up and give them to my Mom’s Dad.
Amy
Amy, I used to do that with my kids. All of the licorice types of candy went to my father-in-law. I don’t like it either.
Kathy, I started making anise soap before I made goat milk soap. I liked it right away. I do not use it often myself, but when I pull a bar out for my own use, I remember why I liked it all over again.
Alix, glad you are safely back. I bet you have a lot to catch up on! Thank you for helping to promote my soap. There is nothing like word of mouth…and they are good products!
