I have been a happy soap experimenter the last several days.
For the 1001’st time (at least that is how I see it), I am testing a new shampoo bar recipe. One of these days I’ll come up with a formula that I feel is as good as I expect it to be.
Not everyone has soft water. I know this because I have experienced it. I will eventually design a bar that works well in hard water!
How about the pretty top on this one? Soap can just be gorgeous! Don’t you agree?

I can’t wait for that day, I love your soaps but the shampoo bars just didn’t work for me because my water is just so hard 😦
I am right with you on that, Kerry! I had soft water before we moved to this farm. I used one of my tea tree blend shampoo bars nearly every day. It lathered. The bar lasted forever. And my hair was better than ever. But, not here, not with this hard county water.
I am determined to formulate a shampoo bar that will work for US!!
Very pretty!
Amy
Thank you, Amy! I can hardly wait to cut it today.
You’re welcome!
Annie, I ssssoooooo understand you. I have been experimenting for 3 years with shampoo bars that work in our super-hard water (full of calcium). Some are better, some are worse. I actually had a great one, but can’t seem to replicate. Batch notes missing something? Problems – at fist I thought it was the Superfat. Not. I had a good beer one with 6% sf. Now I usually use between 3 & 4%. Then I though it was olive oil quaility. Tried my first soap ever with sunflower oil. Dud. My ideas and experiments go on and on, but still haven’t found that great shampoo BAR.I recently made my first 2 batches of liquid shampoo and the second batch was aimed at being a shampoo. So far it is working!!! Not selling liquid soap yet but maybe one day? But ideally I would get an awesome shampoo bar to sell… Look foward to your future posts about your shampoo bars!! xo Jen
Hi Jen –
I am considering liquid soap. Why I have not made it yet, time! I do not want to spend two days working on one batch of soap. I recently picked up on a crock pot method for liquid soap, which I think cuts the production time down. I am going to research it a bit more.
There HAS to be a shampoo bar that works well in hard water without resorting to adding a foaming agent (SLS).
Keep watching for my updates! I am determined to make it work!!!
