I heard it come from my husband’s mouth, talking to the 2 1/2 week old bottle fed kitten, “You are going to have to be declawed if you stay in the house much longer.”
I thought I was a softie. Goodness, it isn’t just me. It looks like we will be adopting the orphaned kitten.
The boxer dogs have always been terrible with cats. I have no idea why they are being good with this kitten. Perhaps it was all of the training they have had with newborn goat kids? Newborn goat kids are perfect matches for the dogs. They hover over the kids with a great deal of interest and care.
Are you an animal softie too?
I ask you, how can anyone mistreat an animal? Like a child, don’t abuse. They do not deserve mis-treatment. They depend upon us for so much.
As soon as we get a good photo, I’ll share one here. The little one is just now beginning to act like a kitten should. It was touch and go. I do, though, keep catching her in my husband’s shoes (like the kitten in the photo). Cute.
Bob sounds like my Dad who is also Bob, he’s a softie when it comes to our animals.
~*~Amy~*~
Amy, I told my husband that people say he is a softie. My sister said it a few days ago. She said he tries to act tough, but really isn’t all that. Funny, isn’t it?
Oh yea! I have always had a soft heart toward animals. Never liked to see anything mistreated. When we get a pet, it’s for the lifetime of the animal and they become part of the family. Not equal to, but in their own way:) I do get frustrated at the feral cats that show up in our neighborhood because of the damage they do to the birds and bunnies. But that’s because people won’t spay or neuter. Guess it’s frustration at people’s irresponsibility.
Debbie
Debbie, this young one is going to be spayed. I simply do not want to see history repeated. Normally, though, the barn cats are simply that. They hang out with the goats and one of the barn dogs. It is a funny site to see. I have been blessed with cats that do not wander.
Hi Mary –
We have a new kitten, too. She was dumped at our farmhouse – so skinny and tiny – she couldn’t have been more than 5-6 weeks old. Too tiny to be out on her own. Well, she’s been adopted by us, too. I decided that we need a farm cat or two, and she just fit the bill. I’m thinking now, that we need a buddy for her. Hate for her being all alone to guard the farm!
I do not understand how people can drop animals off. We have had several dogs dropped off here. One pair, sheweee, were fairly stinky. Someone obviously didn’t want to deal with them. Good luck with your new kitten, and her upcoming buddy! 🙂
We are also respectful of animal’s lives – they are created beings also in a different way from humans but still – they bring love and humor to our lives – and a good ratter is worth a fortune!
Yes, ma’am the ratters are definitely priceless!
I am a BIG softie for animals, children and seniors. I am protective over the vulnerable.
My Captain swears he doesn’t like cats. But the truth is, he loves them. Someone stole his favorite cat when he was a child and he hasn’t had one since. Big softie!
