I wanted to share a photo of the soap I made a couple of days ago, Lilac scented goat milk soap.
For those of you that love a good old-fashioned fragranced soap, such as Lilac, this is a great match.
I applied the color (safe ultramarine violet) to the top only, swirling it in at the end of the project.
Lovely.
Soap making has been a bit difficult for me recently. I am working on Annie’s Goat Hill spring soaps, stocking up on the favorites. Between kidding, studying, problems on the farm (pulling the well pump several times), my favorite job, making soap, has been a struggle.
It will get better! I am an optimist. It is my job.
And I hope when I get back to making more soap, it comes out as pretty as this one did!
Lovely!
Amy
Thank you, Amy!
So you too are dealing with pulling the well pump ( not septic system too ?) and all the other issues life passes out to those of us in the country AND with livestock. Goodness, we have nothing else to do when we live in the country do we?
My days sound similar but along sheep lines. I keep thinking i need to get down to creating the things I can sell but practical things and family obligations come up and what is a woman to do?Then I remember He gives us 24 hours a day, and upon seeking His will and thinking about right priorities we will figure it out. I know you will get what is right and necessary done, even if you lose a little sleep! And BTW, the soap IS lovely.
Kathy, a friend once made a statement, “They have nothing to do but bake bread all day.” I know that statement to be way off base, way off base (I repeat)! It is tiresome. Taking care of our own selves is a chore, an act that requires concentration.
Do I enjoy it? Yes. Could I do this each and every day? No. Not without hired help.
I agree with you about the priorities. Those are my prayers. And they are said often.
I balance. I balance well.
Thank you.
Lovely! I love your soap. I feel the same about not getting my soaps done. With all the other stuff I have to do and future planning, I am just a tad bit behind..
Hello, Melissa. Thank you. I think we all experience times when we seem to scramble for a bit of freed up time. It is temporary.
Geez, I wish there was something you could do about that water. That has to be SO annoying to have to pull those lines up every couple of months.
I love the look of that soap. The way you swirled it just on top is interesting. And makes me wonder how else you could swirl the color into the soap.
You noticed. It has not been long since I announced that we did the pulling of the pump once before. I will have a new well dug this spring. There is no way to get around it. The spot where the current one sits is running out of water, has always been low (prior owners were not honest on their real estate disclosure), and the water is hard and rusty at that depth.
