I have been dreaming.
Dreaming of spring and an herb garden.
Herbs are so versatile. They are nice in soap, infusions, and for cooking. They even smell lovely in the home, hanging to dry, not to forget the beauty of the herb itself.
I normally plant herbs in containers. My favorite herb planters are old wash tubs.
This year I will plant an herb garden in raised beds. Plans are to begin a garden that I can walk through and enjoy.
What I truly can imagine is a stroll along a flagstone path, with herbs growing where the feet brush, with the aroma wafting up as I pass.
Yes, that would be the spot.
How about a quiet place to sit, read, medidate, pray, or just to relax in general?
Want to join me? How about right now?
My Dad has been doing raised beds in the past for his flowers and veggies, he just recently put another raised bed garden in the middle of our Great Pyrenees pen but they can’t get into it since it is fenced off. He just put that in last year. Can’t wait for the blueberries, peas, etc.!
Amy
That sounds good to me too, Amy. I would love to grow blueberries. They are so healthy!
Oh yes, you do need one. Plus, my sheep love the weeds from my herb garden, so I bet your goats or piggies will too. I have a beautiful dove-cote with real white doves in my herb garden, a blue bird bath and a small table and chairs to sip my herbal tea at while I read my herbal journals or just gaze around me, soaking up the scent. Can you tell I love having a herb garden I can walk through? Oh, and when I do walk through it, even in winter, the herbs that brush my leg do give off scent.
I hope you’ll be sharing pictures of your garden. ( hint)
Kathy, I have planned on a garden for several years. This year I have decided there is only one way to get it done, plan it and make sure it happens.
Your garden sounds wonderful. It sounds somewhat like what I am looking for. It sounds relaxing, the way it should be.
Oh Mary… I’m dreaming of Spring and an herb garden too!
I had a lovely assortment of herbs last Spring and they grew like mad, until it got so hot they struggled. I think I learned how to keep them happy and might just try it again this year.
There is nothing quite like the joy of having piles of fresh herbs begging to be picked and used in daily recipes! Thanks for inspiring me!
Alix, you have inspired me to cook something good, with herbs! I may just have to buy some from the grocery to fill in the need.
Yes! I’ll be right there… 🙂 Just today, I thinned my spearmint bed and planted some runners on the fence line. I’d love to send you some, I have so much. I also moved my confederate rose and Queen Elizabeth rose bush away from the house. Too confining for them. And planted new bulbs and roots. The weather was bright and sunshiney with temps in the mid-40s. The snow went south of us.
Debbie, it would be great to be able to work in the soil right now! We have had some warmer weather, and a few days of rain, but it is still very much snow covered here.
I love roses! I planted 8 bushes last year. Hoping to add more roses this spring.
I would love to see a pic of your confederate rose. For some reason I am thinking it is a deep red.
I just bought some fresh herbs at the grocery store. Darn those things are expensive.
I have always wanted an herb garden. Maybe this year I can scratch up a place to atleast get a small one started.
This post has my mind imagining scents of rosemary, basil, dill…….
Sending thoughts of rosemary lemon baked chicken your way…
