The trail started here...
My husband and I were gone all of 15 minutes. As we stepped out the truck and approached the house I immediately noticed no dog standing at the window. My words were, “Oh, oh…I left a bag of trash on the kitchen floor.”
Yep!
Tyra, a 6 year old boxer. If she knows you have left the premises, she will investigate. And what do I do when I see the beginning of the trail of trash? I start giggling. You would think I would have more sense than that. Nope…I go for the broom and dust pan and laugh. Laugh!
Here is what we normally see as we walk up to the house:

Boxer greeting at window...
And once I got her attention…she stood at the kitchen window as if to say, “I didn’t do anything wroonnnggg.”

I am surely innocent...
Oh yes, been there. Sometimes I’m not sure if they like what they smell or if it’s some kind of rebellion for leaving them alone.
Gotta take the good with the bad, though.
LOL yes they don’t call the Boxer the “court jester” for nothing! Even when they grow old they are so funny and playful. Our first Boxer was so wonderful and our second is just as wonderful!
You got off easy, we lost a couch and rather large patch of carpeting to a Boxer! 😉
Great pics.
Tyra is the one we rescued. She was very mistreated. She hardly ever cowers now, but she has never forgotten about being left alone (the type of abuse she received).
Sandy, we did lose a couch once when they were younger. I have a pic of Tyra sitting on the couch, caught in the act. It looked more like a bubble bath than a fairly new couch. Months later, her pups, Spike and Angel, finished the job well.
Now that they are older, nobody does any chewing or destroying, thankfully.
Court Jesters for sure! Their personalities are wonderful.
That’s Patti (couch comment) 😉
My husband and I have had Boxers (one at a time please) for 25+ years and I’ve always said if you can get through the first year (we call it Boxer puppy h*ll) you’ll have the best dog ever! I never liked the idea of crating, but in our experience it was absolutely necessary when left alone for ANY period of time during that first year. As a breed they seem to be prone to separation anxiety as pups/youth, and the crate not only keeps them from eating couches, but makes them feel safer as well.
I’ve seen so many young Boxers in rescue, and besides people’s cruelty, ignorance and ‘throw away’ attitude, it’s my guess that the reason they’ve been given up on is separation anxiety. I can’t help but think ‘if they’d only waited a few more months, or tried a crate…’. They really are the BEST dogs but I don’t think many people are aware, or prepared for ‘Boxer puppy h*ll’ when they bring their puppies home 😦
You have a boxer, too! A rescue boxer, too! Would you believe that we do, too. I’ll locate her photo then upload it. It’s remarkable how much they look alike. Are we clones?
hahahahahahahaha
