Hello!
As you may know, I am shutting down Annie’s Goat Hill Handcrafted Soaps and venturing into (what I deem for myself as) uncharted waters. If you missed my original announcement, and the newsletter announcement, my original blog post can be read here.
I am excited to announce that I’ve started a new site and business – Pen and Ink Spot. One of my first blog posts at that site can be read here. Share, encourage, and grow is my motto. There is more substance to my mission, of course, but I am happily focused on my motto at this point!
So, I have recorded an audio message for you, which felt much more personal than writing a blog post. It is six minutes long (I do not script audio or video recordings), so you may want to listen to it when you have time to do so! It is located at this link: Audio Memo.
If you do not have the technology resources to listen to the audio – in brief, my husband and I are embarking on an over the road business – with a newsletter, (five) books in the wings, and with plans to meet other small business people (including fellow Indie Beauty Network members!) and couples/people working over the road. I am very excited at the prospect of seeing our country and writing about my experiences.
I am so enthused by the support that I have been receiving. I hope you continue to follow the journey with me! The possibilities are nearly endless.
See you there!
Mary
P.S. Yes, I plan to get my CDL (commercial driver’s license). Look for the big 18 wheeler with the 5′ tall woman at the helm. It should be interesting, don’t you think?
Good luck with your new adventure! My parent’s and I started a new adventure but a different journey than yours though, it’s camping adventures in our new truck and truck camper. We just sold our farm truck yesterday to the young man that got 5 of our goats, he’ll be starting school soon at the OARDC (Ohio Agriculture department center) in Wooster on Wednesday. He took some hay with him in the truck and will be coming back for the rest soon since he’ll be really close to us and some of our goat building materials but we’ve offered him to stay here if needed, he’s the same age as me and was home-schooled. He’s interested in starting a goat dairy and making cheese, etc.
I gave his Mom my spinning wheel yesterday as well as a book since she wants to learn to spin and I had no use for the spinning wheel anymore.
Her son the one that got 5 of our goats and our truck is increasing in his faith with God and getting his life back together!

Amy, I love your story (about the young man and how he is turning his life around). We recently helped someone that didn’t need help in that respect, however, he and his family are starting a farm from the ground up. Bob and I have received generous help so many times over the past 10 years, I said to the young man, “It is your turn. This is God’s work.” We gave him everything we could to help him get started.
Mary, Yes and his Mom told my Mom and I what a blessing we were to her son and then a little bit later he came over and told us what a blessing we were to him. He just moved back home with his Mom from Alaska and decided to start taking classes in goat stuff to learn more and he’s already started making cheese and I gave him our whole collection of goat books that we had in our library and he truly appreciated them since he’s a reader, always has been and more books to add to his library, he really appreciated the recipe books that I gave him and now I can keep in touch with him through e-mails and Facebook. He’s had a rough life, my brother-in-law and sister sent him our way when she heard that we were getting rid of our goats and she said she knew someone that would be interested so we’re glad he was sent our way! We told him if he needed anything just let us know since we’re really close to where he’ll be going to school and they invited us to their place to see where the goats are, they live really close to where we go visit my grandma’s and our good veterinarian friend.
His Mom was very happy and excited that I would give her my spinning wheel at no cost.
