A few days ago I saw a beautiful sign, tastefully done, in the front yard of a home. The sign was simple, wrapped around the outer edges with grapevine.
The message was:
Life Began In A Garden
Can it be more concise than that?
We are drawn to gardens. We find secluded spots to meditate or pray.
We seek and absorb the peace.
Such a wonder it is.
Life began in a garden, and life truly is restored in a garden.
So well said: I believe there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright. – Henry David Thoreau
So true. Gardens draw us in and do offer peace…why else would people in New York and other cities go to such lengths and bother to put gardens on roof tops?
You made a valid point there, Kathy. Beauty and therapy for the eyes and the heart from the garden.
Mary, you’re so right. Gardening is good for the soul, and where did Jesus go to pray? The Garden of Gethsemane. Must be something to that. Good post – I need one of those signs…
I need one too, Vickie. Such a subtle reminder to see each day.
That is a very pretty saying!
I loved sharing it, glad you found it pretty, Stacey.
Very true!

Have fun in Florida, my friend!
Thanks, we are having a good time, off to Disney World today! It’s going to be a hot one today. Having fun with family!
Amy
Hot weather and at Disney. Hmmm…you are not in Ohio anymore. Tee hee. Have fun, Amy!
We had a wonderful time! It was hot but no humidity though, there was only one morning that it rained but we still headed to Disney though since it stopped raining by the time we got there and the sun came out but later in the day we had to buy blankets and sweatshirt jackets and long sleeved shirts since it got cool at Disney World. Will be posting pictures soon on my blog, took 136 pictures while in Georgia and Florida. There will be several picture posts on my blog soon.
Amy back in Ohio as of this afternoon.
I am glad you had a good time, Amy. Wearing long sleeves would be welcome compared to winter boots, coats and hats that we are back to wearing here. I look forward to seeing pictures of your vacation on your blog.
That is so true, thank you for posting that. I notice that if I don’t have a garden I visit the mountain more often, just to get that breath of untainted air that reinvigorates. There is a peace, and a sense of accomplishment when one see’s their own garden. It goes to ‘I did that’ and to glory in being surrounded in green. Which happens more so when you live in a desert.

Hi Michelle. You know, you made me think. Even the smallest of space, filled with something that we grow from our own hands, brings on a moment of peace. Truly a gift to us. Makes a person think, doesn’t it?
I would love to find a sign like that for myself and my mother-in-law. She would love it, too.
It is amazing that no matter how hard we work in the garden, we still are at peace and refreshed when done.
Garden therapy! There isn’t much like it.
Pictures are up now, they’re separated by days that we were on vacation Mary! We wore sunglasses, capris, and short sleeves and straw hats most of our vacation and flip flops and sandals and crocs. Now I’m getting used to bundling up to do chores now, been gone for almost 2 weeks and now my Dad and I have to remember our routine since being back for only 1 day now. But it was nice being with lots of my Mom’s family since we haven’t seen some for a long time and enjoyed spending time with my brother, sister-in-law, niece, nephew, and sister. My brother, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew were in a room across the hall from us at our Resort.

Amy, I have had extra busy days lately. I am going to find the time to sit down and sift through your photos, time where I can enjoy them. It sounds like a wonderful vacation.
Mary, I understand about the busy days! Have a pile of laundry from vacation and from before we left vacation that needs done. There are a lot of pictures to sift through all 136 of them!
