I took a long walk in the woods today, something I had not done in a long time.
What is it about the crisp fall air joined with the aroma of decaing leaves that makes a soul feel so good?
The quiet and alone time was beautiful.
I am grateful.
Do you agree, the changing of the season is something to treasure?
one of my great joys about the land we currently own is walking in the oak woods after a little rain – smelling those wonderful leaves and seeing what critters are hanging around back there. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy –
I hope you are getting to do a lot of that this autumn, Linda Sue!
I love walking around our property once in awhile in the Spring, Summer, & Fall.

I don’t do it so much during the season when the snakes are active. I do not fear them, I just dislike seeing them! They make me jumpy. Glad someone else can enjoy things year round a bit more than me!
Well, we haven’t seen many snakes lately though, the only ones we do see are dead ones that our cats have killed though. Well, there is so much beauty and nature to see in our valley and our place is like being on vacation!

Hi Mary – trying to get around and do some visiting this morning.
Yes, I love to wander through the woods ESPECIALLY in the fall. There’s something so basic and earthy about it. Makes me feel “one” with nature I guess. It’s nice in the spring, too, but different. Fall is my favorite time of year, strolling through the quiet woodlands with a chill in the air and the leaves falling soundlessly always makes me just stop and savor my surroundings. It feeds all the senses.
Thanks for bringing this to mind! Now I need to go for a walk in the woods…
Hello Vickie, I am truly glad that you stopped in for a visit.
Did you enjoy your stroll through the woods?
My man and I went for a walk in the woods yesterday afternoon when I got home from work. We found a big old Cedar tree that the bears have been using for a scratching post. So now I probably won’t be going for a walk by myself or without a rifle. I do like this time of year but my favorite time to walk in the wood is winter after a good snow soooo very quiet and beautiful.
Sue, oh my!!! It is one thing watching for deer track and finding places where they chew on bark or sleep, but bear…I think NOT!
I love your site, by the way.
Yes, I do agree, Mary!
And I am so ready for my first fall walk. And this post has me itching to get going.
