Today I am talking about an organization that does a tremendous service for impoverished people around the world. The name and link to the organization is CleanTheWorld.org .
I will quote to you, in their own words, what Clean The World is about, “CTW is a non-profit, charitable organization that recycles soap, shampoo and lotion discarded by hotels, and distributes the recycled products worldwide to people who need it to prevent the spread of disease and death.”
Clean The World was in service prior to the earthquake in Haiti. More than ever, they need additional funds, soap and shampoo, and volunteers to aid with relief efforts.
I am inspired and touched by the videos on the Clean the World site. I hope you are able to watch and see for yourself the magnificent efforts of CTW.
Thank you, and God bless!
Hi Mary — Thanks for coming by with your kind comments about my farmhouse. We are enjoying it so much!
Clean the World looks like great organization. How many of have scads of little bottles of shampoo and lotion, etc., lying around in the drawers and cabinets. They surely could be put to better use for others. I wind up never using them anyway!
You have such good post ideas. I liked your post recently about your goals for this year and what you hope to accomplish. I mostly just float along, but I need to get a grip on my year, too, and make pro-active decisions. Good encouragement for us all, Mary!
I do like your farmhouse, especially the mint green kitchen. It is obvious that you love it, Vickie. Fun how your kitchen was spotlighted on the blog. I am not surprised!
Vickie,
What a cute kitchen! I went to the site and checked out some of the kitchen sink photos… clever… love the cottage look! 🙂
Reminds me of my grandmother’s kitchen. I used to think her kitchen was so huge. I reflect now, she had a small set of metal kitchen cabinets, and no counter top space at all. She had a large formica table with chrome legs. She was an excellent cook. I would imagine she did a lot of food preparation on the table itself.
I remember when we were without power and water for almost 2 weeks after severe storms blew through here in 2006 and left trees through our roof and our house broken, messy with mud and storm debris. We had cleaning supplies but no water…and I just felt yucky, and dirty and that really contributed to a feeling of hopelessness when everything seemed wet, dingy and smelly.Imagining what life could be like without any of these things at all…well, a LOT worse. A good bath and shampoo and fresh clean clothes add so much to uplifting morale and giving hope. And these are such simple basics we take for granted….a great cause Mary. Leave it to a soap maker to remind us how much we need soap and take it for granted!
I cannot take total credit for bringing Clean the World forward here. I am a member of HSMG (the Handcrafted Soapmaker Guild). They, and many of the members, have had connections, and have sent donations, prior to the earthquake in Haiti. I am so enthused with the pure efforts of CTW!
We were without power for a week, Kathy, about 5 years ago. I had forgotten the dirty feeling. We brought buckets of pond water up for the toilets, but washing with that water was not suitable (except for the hands). I wasn’t going to sit in the tub with tadpoles!
We forget how important cleanliness is to our health, our daily needs, and as you said, our morale.
Thank you Kathy, for your thoughtful comments.
That is such a great idea.
Anita
Anita, they do a wonderful service, don’t they?
