Hello!
I hope you had a great Christmas!
We had a very relaxing Christmas day! I think I gained a few pounds. Well, I know I gained a few pounds. Friends and family indulged us with candy, cookies, not to mention the pie that I already had prepared. Dinner was a pan of lasagna that held its own for 3 days!
Christmas was a windy, wet and cold day. It was good to be inside. It was wonderfully quiet. At the same time I missed my family (my son’s families, my grand-children, my deceased parents, and especially my sister and nieces).
Spike, our boxer, ended up off his kibble. His toe swelled up. He chewed his toenail off last night, yes, down to skin level. Today he went to the vet. He had not been weighed in many years. I guessed him at 90 pounds. He looked thin this morning, dehydrated, even his collar was hanging loose. They sure drop weight quickly. He weighed in at 89.8 pounds! Besides that astonishment (size-wise), the doctor put him on a pain med and antibiotics, and gave us well-wishes as we went out the door. Perhaps now I can sleep a bit better. How and why do we allow ourselves to love our animals as much as we do? It scares me, it truly does.
I had to replace my CPU, translating to no new camera. I did a back up as my old machine slowed down. It sounded like a barber’s electric razor. As I sat at my desk Christmas Eve morning I was almost startled out of my seat by the racket of the dying machine. The new CPU is working and the files are slowly being restored. Life is good.
I would love to hear some of your Christmas stories and adventures!
And, I hope sunshine returned to you as well! It is a beautiful day after Christmas here!
God bless.
so you got a new computer? oh good. you’ll get the new camera one day. I always have a long wish list but just have to wait until funds are available.
I hope Spike start showing improvement. Our animals are our babies, every last one of ’em.
Joanna, yes, I got the parts that I needed. Right now the needs come first. As you said, the wish list waits. And is all good with the world.
It is set in stone that you love your babies too. I can sense it when I read your blog posts and see your pictures. They are a big part of your life.
The upside of waiting to get a new camera is that they seem to be getting better and better for lower and lower prices. Glad you were able to get the other more important item taken care of and your Christmas sounds pretty nice to me. I am glad also that Spike is fine.
I hope the rest of your Christmas season is filled with the blessings of contentment and health Mary.
Oh, I have given away all the soap I purchased from you ( that we are not presently using) in gift baskets for Christmas, so I know I will be buying more for our personal use soon. Love the soap Mary!
Good morning, Kathy.
Spike continues to improve. He was a very sick animal for a day or so.
Life has been very busy, but good. It was a treat to enjoy a quiet Christmas!
It sounds like you had a nice Christmas. I hope your dog gets better soon. We worry over them like we do our kids. They do become part of the family.
We have got lots of snow here. The snowplow did come this morning so hopefully I can get to work in the morning.
Hello Stacey! Good to hear the snowplow came along. If you want to go to work tomorrow, I imagine you do, I hope you get there safe and sound.
Spike is doing much better today. He ate for the first today (since Christmas morning).
Hi Mary!
I almost started on a rant with my Christmas stories… lucky there’s a delete key! 🙂
Glad you had a wonderful Christmas Day!!! Ours was uneventful, thus wonderful.
I can relate to the sore puppyisms. Mine was just out, caught a piney squirrel, tossed it around a few times and then — the yelp. I’ll be watching for swelling around her mouth.
It’s snowing here today. Coming down pretty steady; we’re supposed to get up to 4 inches. I’m heading out to go eagle watching.
You have a great day!!
Lynnanne, what I didn’t say here was Delilah was sick the very first morning Spike was sick. She was drooling constantly. We never did figure out what she got into. Thankfully her ordeal didn’t last for days.
We have no snow on the ground now, just a few very small patches here and there.
I hope you write about your eagle watching on Facebook later!
Talk with you later!
Sounds like your Christmas was nice-mine was too : ) Hope Spike is all better now.
Oh no, a sick boxer doggie is no fun. I hope that that he heals quickly. My niece dog is a boxer and they drop weight quickly but they also add it back on super fast. =))
Merry Christmas!
Tipper, yes, it was nice. Spike continues to improve. He has been a little spoiled. 🙂
Anne-Marie, I have seen photos of your boxer-niece, she is a beautiful girl!
I’m glad that Spike is getting better. Our pets become part of our family with their own little personalities and silly antics that keep us entertainied. Especailly for those of us whose children are grown. No matter how old our furry friends get, they still want to be loved on.
And I’m glad you were able to get all your information backed up before the computer went completely out!!
Sorry about the camera, maybe soon though!
You don’t want to hear about what went on around here on Christmas and thereafter. Drama, drama, drama that is still lingering about. Not too bad, but still drama none the less.
All is good, Becky!
I hope you here about your Christmas at some point.
The information is slowly rolling back into my computer. A few things are different, odd, but with effort I will match it all up (file to file).
Hi Mary!
I just had a random Christmas thought…. What’s it like to be a Mary at Christmas?
Anyway – I feel like I’ve been away from blogging for way too long. With my Blogger html code issues and blog format going all kaflooie – then the busy busy holidays, I’ve been absent from all my favorite blogs and am in desperate catch up mode.
So glad your Christmas was fun, albeit quiet. It rained her too… for part of the day. But at least it was warm.
Happy New Year sweet friend. I hope your 2010 brings you all your dreams come true. And lots and lots of goat milk!
